Month: June 2013

  • Day 25 & 26

25 The person you know that is going through the worst of times

Aren't we all?   "Everyone's fighting their own battle" type of thing.  Hoping for a job.  Wishing for a baby.  Running out of money.  Swimming in debt.  Working themselves to death.  Custody fights.  Cheating spouses.  Sickness.  Loss.  Worry.   Please remember it's just for a time.  Things change and they change quickly.  We will make it through.  I pinky promise!

26 The last person you made a pinky promise to

    reference above.  :)

  • Day 24

The person who gave you your favorite memory.

    Tim Hegler

He probably has no memory of this event or even me.  I've met him periodically over the years.  He was the ballet instructor/choreographer at Summer Workshop somewhere around 2003?  I learned so much from him.  I had many epiphanies about my body and dancing during those week long dives into the ballet world.  I also remember that I learned what real pain was and that I could dance through it.  He split everyone into groups.  Most people only participated in and learned the choreography for 2 dances.  After the first couple of days I had my two dances down.  Tim decided to put another number in the program.  He chose me to be in the new number.   He told us it was going to be challenging.  If we expected to get it we would have to put in practice at home in the evenings even after we had been dancing from 8-5.  The next day when we went over the number I had it down and I was helping the other dancers with their parts.  Tim worked with me that afternoon as everyone was leaving on some things I missed while practicing for the other numbers.  He told me I surprised him on how dedicated I was to getting the dances.  He wanted to let me know that he noticed how hard I was working.  When we placed the piece the next day, Tim put me center stage and even gave me a small solo part.  There I was center stage with the spotlight on me, everyone else on stage was still as I finished the song by myself.  When the show was over, I went up to Tim to say my goodbyes and thank him for the week.  We sat on the front of the stage, and he told me I was one of the best students he had the pleasure of teaching.  He told me at first I faded into the crowd and didn't stand out with my dancing.  But every day I showed I was working as hard as I could and finally showed my ability.  He told me, he would be happy to work with me as his student at the University.  He said he knew he would never be disappointed if I came to his class and worked like that.

He told these things to a 14 year old who had never been recognized as being a capable dancer by anyone except Miss Dixie.  I failed miserably at all auditions.  My previous dance teacher forgot who I was 3 years in a row. I was older than all the other girls in my dance class, yet they were just as advanced as me.  It was a major turning point in thinking I was a dancer.  I was able to not take it so hard when my first impressions were lacking.  I knew I could prove myself over time.  It's funny how just a few words of encouragement can change your life.  I will always love that memory.  I hope I get to continue working with Tim periodically in the future.  He will be first on my list when I have enough money to bring in a professional guest teacher.

  • Don't Hold The Wall - Justin Timberlake

    Dance, don't hold the wall
    Dance, don't, don't, don't hold the wall
Dance, dance, don't hold the wall
    Da-da-dance, don't hold the wall

    [Verse 1: Justin Timberlake]
C'mon, on the floor with them legs,
Was getting down but now I get up,
Cause I heard you tell your girlfriend that I deserve better,
Well, I think you look better
But you're so far, I had to come get ya'

    [Bridge]
    Take you to the light,
    It's dark in the back
    You started moving,
You put an arch in your back
Closer to me, closer to me
    Sippin' your drink,
And you're getting closer to me
    Dance in the light,
    Starting to see,
    You started moving,
    You're getting closer to me
And now you won't even let me go

[Hook 2: Justin Timberlake & Timbaland]
    So baby hold up,
    Dance, don't hold the wall
    Let it go,
    Dance, don't, don't, don't hold the wall
    Baby hold up,
    Da-da-dance, don't hold the wall

[T:] Dance, (What you do to me?)
    Dance, don't, don't, don't, hold the wall
Dance, dance, (What you do to me?)
    Da-da-dance, don't hold the wall

    [Hook 1]

    [Verse 2]
I think I heard what you said
He's not what you thought and you're fed up
I heard your girlfriend tell you, you could do better,
    Well, I'm the best ever
But you're so far, I had to come get ya'

    [Bridge]

    [Hook 2]

    [Bridge: Justin Timberlake]
    Dance, don't hold the wall
    Dance, don't hold the wall

    [Hook 2]

    [Hook 3: Justin Timberlake x2]
    C'mon and dance,
    C'mon baby dance with me
    Take my hand,
    Get on the floor
    C'mon baby dance with me
    Please don't hold the wall
Please don't hold the wall tonight
    We're gonna do it all,
So please don't hold the wall tonight

    [Outro: Justin Timberlake & Timbaland]
    [J:] Where you running to?
    Where you running to?
    [T:] Don't hold the wall
[J:] Hey, where you running to?
[T:] Dance, don't hold the wall

    Dance, don't hold the wall
    Dance, don't hold the wall

  • Day 19

    Someone that pesters your mind

    Miss Carolyn

I only knew her for a year.  That year was a huge turning point in my life.  We went through so much together.  We were together every day.  Working together.  Talking together.   Having a good time in a bad time.  She taught me a lot.  It bothers me that we didn't continue our relationship.  I think about her, and I know she has had a rough time the past 2 years.  Her husband passed away.  They were pretty low on money.  I hope she is doing OK.

  • Day 18/ Definition Entry

The Person You Wish You Could Be

    Leah K,

Self Sufficient -  Able to provide for oneself without the help of others; independent.

    1. able to supply one's or its own needs without external assistance.
    2. having extreme confidence in one's own resources or powers.

I've been realizing lately, being able to provide for yourself sometimes requires the help of others.  It requires allowing others to do what's needed.  I have always been an "I can do it myself" girl.  I'm changing to believe Self Sufficient is a negative term.  I want to strive for Self Reliance.  Being able to recognize what needs to be done and using everything and anything to make it happen.  Even if that means using someone else's sweat and blood.

Self Reliance - Reliance on one's own capabilities, judgment, or resources; independence.

    Faithful -
    1. Adhering firmly and devotedly, as to a person, cause, or idea; loyal.
    2. Engaging in sex only with one's spouse or only with one's partner in a sexual relationship.
    3. Having or full of faith.
    4. Worthy of trust or belief; reliable.
    5. Consistent with truth or actuality: a faithful reproduction of the portrait.

I'm glad I am faithful.  It is a quality I have an abundance of, but it's not enough.  It's an inactive quality.  I am faithful by not departing from something.  I am faithful by not changing my beliefs.  I want it to be an active choice.  I also want it to show to the outside world.  I want others to be able to look up to my faith.  My faith in people.  My faith in myself.  My faith in God.  I want it to be evident.

Some more words I wish would be in my life?
Home, Family, Love, Partnership, Freedom, Success, Confidence.  All of these things are missing right now.  I can feel them coming.  I can taste them.

Through faith in my own self reliance I can acquire all of these things.... right?

  • Day 17

    Someone from your childhood

My childhood was all about the cousins.

I'm smack dab in the middle there with my blue sweatshirt.  The time stamp says 1998.

It seems I really like my family.   These people are all awesome.
